DIY Project: Modern Upcycled Planters

DIY Modern Upcycled Planters by Hello Cupcake for Somewhere Splendid. Photography by Woodnote Photography.

Last week, I joined Alt Summit’s online DIY Blogger Meetup and had the opportunity to connect with a lot of really fabulous crafty folks (more on that later). One of the lovely gals I was able to chat with was Stacy of Hello Cupcake, who sent over this affordable DIY way to spiffy up your house. Using some everyday items, you can recreate these modern (and eco-friendly!) planters for your home or office.

Supplies

  • Empty Cans of Various Sizes
  • Small Hack Saw (optional)
  • Scissors
  • Painter’s Tape
  • Spray Paint
  • Succulents and Soil

Instructions

Using dry and empty cans, determine the height you want each planter to be and use the painters tape to mark your cutting line/ Use the hack saw to make your initial incision and the scissors to continue cutting around the entire can. Remove the tape and spray paint the outside of the cans; if necessary, use a small rock to hold the can in place while you spray paint. Once the can is dry, plant your succulents.
