This week, I’m launching a new series of columns onto our editorial calendar that will supplement our regular posting. Each Monday, we’ll start the week with the Styling Studio, which will deliver quick, simple tips to help you plus your party. To get a sneak peek of the other columns that will be starting up this week, check out the Columns section on our About page. Our recipe column will debut next week.
Today’s tip? If you’re using your linen napkins and good flatware, you’re out to make an impression. To create a finished look, consider wrapping the two together with ribbon. It’s a great way to use left over ribbon that you don’t know what to do with. In the place settings above, I used some sequin ribbon I had purchased for a shoot but came on a roll with much more yardage than I needed. By cleanly wrapping it around my flatware and ribbon and then sealing it with a premade glue dot (available in the adhesives area of the scrapbooking department of your local Michael’s or Joann Fabrics), I came up with a glittering accent that pulled the whole table together.
