Alright, alright, I’m running mega late today on this project. Apologies – my husband is retouching all of my photographs and has been having migraines and has had a lot of work on his plate this week.
Anyway! Shauna Younge Dessert Tables and I created a project today that we love as a concept for a homemade gift that can be a keepsake. This hot cocoa kit uses two different blends of hot cocoa that I make myself (check out the recipe here on the Inspired Bride – we provided printable labels for peppermint and classic cocoa), homemade marshmallows in classic and peppermint, and peppermint candy sticks to stir the cocoa with.
- wood craft box (ours is from Joann)
- wood stain and sealant
- stain brush
- double stick tape and a glue stick
- glassine envelopes
- sewing machine or needle and thread
- hot cocoa mix (recipe here)
- marshmallows, homemade or store bought
- peppermint sticks
- this printable PDF
Print the PDF provided. Cut the liner and the inside lid pages to the size of your box. Attach the two liners as shown with double stick tape.
Create the cocoa packets by filling a glassine envelope about halfway with dry cocoa mix. Flatten the envelope at the top to remove excess air from the pouch, then fold over the top of the envelope twice. On a sewing machine, or with a needle and thread, stitch across the envelope and flap to secure the envelope. Cut the appropriate provided label out and attach to the center of the packet with a glue stick or double stick tape.
Assemble all items as shown, or as fits best for your box size. Finish with a ribbon and a tag – a matching tag is provided in the PDF.
